In Harmony is a socially and ecologically responsible luxury fashion and accessories brand founded on the belief that style is individual, and that beautiful fashion can be an instrument for change around the world. In Harmony is the personal vision of Antonina, a young fashion iconoclast and self proclaimed "Innerpreneur" whose global wanderings, individual style, and longing for social and ecological change have come together to form a unique perspective on life, fashion, and business. Antonina, an accomplished MBA, left a successful marketing career in the corporate world to pursue her dream of launching In Harmony. The designer has many influences, her grandmother being the first. In the former Soviet Union where the designer was born, beautiful high-quality clothing was scarce. As a result, well-dressed Russian women crafted their own fashions out of sheer creative ingenuity. Antonina's grandmother was no exception. She restlessly knitted and sewed unique clothes for her granddaughter by hand, often from unexpected materials like old coats, jackets, even curtains. This singular personal experience forged the designer's individualistic style at a very early age. Other inspirations include nature, Moorish and Roman architecture, Flamenco dance, and French Art deco style of the 1920s, which was in turn influenced by the richly colored costumes of Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. But perhaps the biggest influences are the people and cultures of far-flung exotic locales like Spain, Russia, Japan, and Indonesia, all places where Antonina has lived. In fact, it was the spiritual and meditative Hindu culture of Bali, Indonesia that provided the serene backdrop to In Harmony's beginning. During a trip to Indonesia, the designer fell in love batik fabrics and learned the batik making process, an ancient artistic tradition. She also discovered the pearlescent beauty of hand-woven raw silk. Inspired, Antonina began designing pieces for herself that she couldn't find elsewhere - pieces that were sophisticated, subtly sexy and playful. Soon, In Harmony was born, blending together the unique influences in designer's life.

Do you know the real value of fashion? No matter how much money you may have paid for your garment, the harsh reality is that it was more than likely made in a sweatshop, where the garment worker, a real person just like you, only earned 1-2% of the price you paid for it. And he or she most likely suffered in sub-human conditions. Regardless of whether the garment was made overseas or in the U.S., sweatshops continue to exist, despite laws against such practices. And with "fast fashion" requiring us to buy more garments every season, our rapid consumption of disposable fashion has created a cycle of slavery, for both the consumer and for the garment worker. Worse yet, conventional textile production is one of the most polluting practices on the planet. Between the use of thousands of pounds of pesticides used to treat plants grown to make textiles, and toxic chemical-based dyes, fashion has become a toxic burden to our planet and its people. It's time for us to wake up. Fast fashion hurts. And green-washing hurts even more! An organic bamboo t-shirt is not necessarily better than its cotton cousin if an entire rainforest in Indonesia was cut down to make way for the bamboo. If we want to create true change, we need to look deeper. While we know that it may not be possible for us to change the world, we at In Harmony are going to effect change when and where possible. On our mission of bringing you responsible fashion, we'll dispel myths and hype. We will connect the woman who wears our fashion with the woman who makes our fashion. We'll bring you lasting goods that stand the test of time. And we'll be good to our people and the planet. And together, we'll stop the cycle of disposable fashion.
